Closed Prototype Now Available!

Development has been progressing steadily for Dracanea: The Ragtag Regalia, and the game is now officially at a point where it is open to play-testers!

The Dracanea dev team is currently looking for people interested in getting a very early sneak-peek to explore the first four chapters of the game’s story! It’s currently in an alpha state and thus is still quite unfinished, however the first half of the main storyline can be enjoyed and played through!
At this time, the team is looking to gather critiques and opinions on the overall world portrayed in Dracanea: The Ragtag Regalia. We’d like feedback about the characters, the dialogue, the plot, and other story elements.

If you’d be interested in taking part in this sneak-peek, please e-mail DracaneaOfficial@gmail.com to request a copy! You will be provided with a download link to the prototype, as well as a Google Doc survey for you to give feedback on what you’ve played.

We hope to share some more good news soon! Until then, have fun!

You Remember Dracanea, Right? – A Crash Course On Dracanean History!

Not so long ago, in a not so distant land, the kingdom of Dracanea nearly fell into ruin when an unthinkably evil warlord rose to power and began his conquest of all he could get his hands on. Fortunately, he was foiled by a group of teenagers (not trained soldiers, mind you) all because they managed to collect a set of mystical gems… Smashing isn’t it!

Well, this kind of story all sounds familiar, correct? After all, you remember the land of Dracanea, right? You act like it’s something out of a fantasy book, hah!

…Hm? No? Well then! Let’s talk about it a little bit more!

Ah! By the way, the name is Redox!

A pleasure, as well as a hearty handshake, to meet you! Hah-hah! I’ve served as the Crown’s Own Knight to King Rutos for nearly three decades now! I’ve certainly seen my fair share of incredible happenings here in Dracanea, so I’m glad to tell you the tale! You know that old expression “You cannot teach a dog new tricks?” Well, this old dog’s certainly learned a trick or two over the years, but knowing when to stop talking isn’t one of them, hah-hah-hah!

Now then! As mentioned, a very close friend of mine delivered Dracanea from that dark time known as the Nova War. Riker Tierros, hero extraordinaire, and our kingdom’s golden boy! You might even call him my protege! After all, I taught him everything I know! And then some! Hahhh-hah-hah!
Fast forward fifteen years later, and Dracanea was a vastly different place! The land flourished, cities were built, and  our handy use of magic have advanced society to a truly futuristic setting. Why, by now, people have electrical lamps and action-based figurines and indoor plumbing and those marvelous auto-carriages! Truly incredible!

Unfortunately, it would seem not all is well during this new era of peace and progress… While civilization has been evolving, a rebellion has been quietly brewing as many people have begun to butt heads over the long-standing policy of isolation which prevents Dracaneans from leaving its shores. At the same time, while uncommon, outsiders hailing from beyond the great seas are also forbidden from entering the kingdom. King Rutos seems open to the idea of finally ousting these rules, but the public jury seems to be out on the subject! Some wish to welcome these foreigners and learn all about their unique cultures, while many see these intruders as a danger to Dracanea’s newfound prosperity!

An early look at the design plans for the world map. What’s that? It looks familiar, you say? Why we’ve lived here all our lives! It very well should, hah-hah-hah!

Unfortunately, some of the most outspoken opponents of welcoming these foreigners have begun to pool their numbers! Soon, an anonymous Rebel Army formed and made it their personal mission to overthrow the king and stop his plans of ending isolation through any means necessary. It wasn’t before long that Dracanea found itself in the midst of its own little civil war.

It seems Dracanea’s fate may lie in the hands of my boy Riker Tierros, who now serves as much-beloved general of the Dracanean Royal Guard. Why is he beloved? Well, of course, he was the leader of that wily group of heroes who managed to overthrow the magical warlock! (Or was it a warlord? Is there a difference? Hah-hah!)
But regardless, the Nova War fifteen years prior to this was what thrust Riker into the limelight. And now that he’s a grown man, he and his allies may just be the key to saving Dracanea from this mysterious Rebel Army! (I hear his beloved partner Eevie is QUITE the feisty one!)
Besides, he’s saved our kingdom once before. Surely, the second time should be even easier, hahhh-hah-hah!

This is the earliest alpha footage screenshot ever taken!
